Stuff and things

It's been pretty slow lately. Either that, or I've been pretty consistently dissatisfied with my recent work. It's probably a combination of the two, but here are some images:

I used my shoes instead of my face for this self portrait.

And a few bits from my sub-par sketchbook:

Travis, where are you?

Sara Sara here I am!

Sara I love this!
you so seamlessly integrated the drawings with the paper cutouts underneath... I don't think I've seen anything like that before. It's unsettling almost, but you do it so subtly. Really wonderful little shoe drawings too.

oh sara also again
i keep looking at it and trying to figure out what it is because something seems a little off
I think it's in the background and the limited range of tones
I wouldn't want you to lose the subtlety and gentleness of the piece
but the way you've photographed it with those streaks of light really brings it to life I think
if you could somehow bring some of that into the original piece
I don't know, or even some really faint textural linework mirroring the patterns in the lace

Thanks so much! That guy with the happy pen is my teacher, yes...World Religions. He's the best.

And I really agree about that pink background. Your suggestion about the lace-like linework peeking in and out in the background would be such a perfect solution, I think. A quick fix, too, which is always welcome. :)
