just some very rough sketches today. I've been wanting to do some folk-lore/fairytale-ish art lately. This isn't really based off of any story in particular, but i really like the pose and the composition. My main problem here is I want some sort of concept, but don't know what. I played around with putting a city underwater, and had a few other ideas, but nothing that's jumping out at me. Any thoughts?

kind of makes me think of that wyeth painting where the girl is sitting in the field of wheat

whenever i see underwater town motifs, i automatically think of marsh creek lake. there are complete homes and a schoolhouse underwater, and i really enjoy the concept. it's simultaneously spooky and romantic.

perhaps she's discovering said underwater town?

regardless of what you settle on, i do really like it. the color scheme is appropriate, the composition is inviting, and i personally appreciate it when figures are drawn in big-bottom format. we are a demographic with limited representation in contemporary illustration, so thank you for doing your part. :o)

Big bottoms? hah, I Actually drew that model from a virtual pose website. I thought it was just a normal-shaped person.

...or maybe i just like big butts,

...and i cannot lie...

I love your composition and color study, but maybe if you finish this you could play a little more with the hierarchy? The black lines around the girl really separate her from the rest of the image. I love the idea of an underwater city! Maybe you could put some fish in there to give it scale?

Also Jimmy yeah your women are always super curvaceous.
